How I score
I use the same 50-point sheet beer judges use at competitions, then turn it into a score out of ten anyone can read at a glance.
The sheet
| Category | Points |
|---|---|
| Aroma | 12 |
| Appearance | 3 |
| Flavor | 20 |
| Mouthfeel | 5 |
| Overall impression | 10 |
| Total | 50 |
Duck Score is the total divided by five, rounded to the nearest half point. A beer that scores 38 of 50 gets a Duck Score of 7.5. Every review also answers one plain question: would I buy it again?
Every tasting
- Buy it. From a store or bar in Monterrey, and note where.
- Film it. One take: the pour, the color, the first sip and the verdict.
- Score it. On the BJCP sheet, before reading anyone else's review.
- Publish it. The score, notes and video go on the beer's page.
- Share it. A short vertical clip for social media.
- Pin it. The beer's country fills in on the map.
